Demineralization for H2 production

ImWater carries out complete projects for demineralization systems focused on the production of Hydrogen, from the engineering phase to the manufacture, assembly and supply of equipment.

Generally, it starts from good quality water sources (mains water, fresh well water) and is treated by a reverse osmosis system and later with an ion exchange or electrodeionization polishing to achieve conductivities lower than <0.1 μS / cm ( or> 10 MOHm · cm) among other parameters.

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS OF DEMINERALIZED WATER SYSTEMS FOR HYDROGEN PRODUCTION

  • It starts with good quality water such as tap water or fresh well.
  • Poor quality water sources can be used with additional treatment steps.
  • Usually a treatment with reverse osmosis and polishing with ion exchange resins or electrodeionization is carried out.
  • Water qualities are obtained in terms of conductivity of <0.1 μS/cm (or > 10 MOHm·cm in resistivity units, which are more used to refer to demineralized water quality)
  • With fine electrodeionization, qualities of greater than> 17MOHm · cm (<0.059 μS / cm) can be safely achieved
    Conductivity (μS / cm) = 1 / Resistivity (MOHm·cm)

 

Hydrogen is a booming energy vector that offers the most promising possibilities for energy storage, especially in transport applications and electric motors, overcoming the limitations of batteries in terms of cost, vehicle autonomy, charging time, etc.

  • Pretreatments (Filters with flint bed, anthracite, Turbidex, activated carbon, ultrafiltration …)
  • Reverse osmosis
  • I refine with filtration in ion exchange resins or electrodeionization.
